NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
The 2026 Special Election to consider propositions amending the City of Greenville Charter will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at 2217-A Washington Street, Greenville, Texas. Voting will begin Tuesday, April 20, 2026, and continue through Friday, April 24, 2026, during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Monday, April 27, 2026, and Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Election Day voting will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the following polling locations by District: Districts 1,2 & 3 will be at 5501 HWY.69 S., Greenville (Fletcher Warren Civic Center) and Districts 4,5 & 6 will be at 4320 Lee Street, Greenville, Texas (Reecy Davis Sr. Recreation Center).
Applications for ballot by mail shall be mailed no later than the close of business on April 20, 2026, to: Jeannie Ash, Early Voting Clerk, Hunt County Elections Administrator, 2217-A Washington Street, Greenville, Texas 75401. Propositions to be considered on the May 2, 2026 Special Election are:
Proposition A, City of Greenville Proposición A, Ciudad de Greenville
Shall Article II, Section 7 of the Greenville City Charter be amended to clarify the City Council's authority under State law to fix the city's boundary limits and annex territory adjacent to the city only with the consent of the territory adjacent to the city only with the consent of the territory and inhabitants to be annexed, or as otherwise allowed by state law? ¿Deberá enmendarse el ArtÃculo II, Sección 7, de la Carta Orgánica de la Ciudad de Greenville para aclarar la autoridad del Concejo Municipal, conforme a la ley estatal, para fijar lÃmites de la ciudad y anexar territorio adyacente a la ciudad únicamente con el consentimiento de los habitantes del territorio que se pretende anexar, o en cualquier otra forma permitida por la ley estatal?
Proposition B, City of Greenville Proposición B, Ciudad de Greenville
Shall Article III, Section 14(g) of the Greenville City Charter be amended to require that vacancies on the City Council be filled by a special election within 120 days if more than 12 months remain in the term (with Council appointment allowed if 12 months or less remain)? ¿Deberá enmendarse el ArtÃculo III, Sección 14(g), de la Carta Orgánica de la Ciudad de Greenville para exigir que las vacantes en el Concejo Municipal se cubran mediante una elección especial dentro de los 120 dÃas siguientes si quedan más de 12 meses del mandato, permitiéndose el nombramiento por el Concejo únicamente cuando queden 12 meses o menos?
Proposition C, City of Greenville Proposición C, Ciudad de Greenville
Shall Article I, Section 9 of the Greenville City Charter (relating to the City's power of eminent domain) be amended to require that the City comply with Chapter 21 of the Texas Property Code and other applicable state laws that ensure fair market value compensation, public purpose, and required notices in the exercise of its eminent domain powers? ¿Deberá enmendarse el ArtÃculo I, Sección 9, de la Carta Orgánica de la Ciudad de Greenville (relativo a la facultad de expropración de la Ciudad) para exigir que la Ciudad cumpla con el CapÃtulo 21 de Código de Propiedad de Texas y demás leyes estatales aplicables que garantÃzan compensación por el balor justo de mercado, un fin públio y las notificacÃ-ones requeridas en el ejercicio de sus facultades de expropiación?

Shall Article III, Section 14(c) of the Greenville City Charter be amended to remove the limitation on the number of successive terms the Mayor and Council members may serve while maintaining a threeyear term length for each successive term? ¿Deberá enmendarse el ArtÃculo III, Sección 14(c), de la Carta Orgánica de la Ciudad de Greenville para eliminar la limitación al número de mandatos consecutivos que pueden desempeñar el Alcade y los miembros del Concejo Municipal, manteniendo una duración de tres años para cada mandato sucesivo?

Shall Article IX, Section 94 of the Greenville City Charter be amended to add a provision, which, in accordance with the provisions of the Texas Election Code governing unopposed candidates, would allow the City Council to declare a candidate elected to office without holding an election when that candidate is unopposed? ¿Deberá enmendarse el ArtÃculo II, Sección 94, de la Carta Orgánica de la Ciudad de Greenville para añadir una disposición que, de conformidad con las disposiciones del Código Electoral de Texas aplicables a los candidatos sin oposición, permita al Concejo Municipal declarar electo a un candidato sin celebrar una elección cuando dicho candidato no tenga oposición?
Proposition F, City of Greenville Proposición F, Ciudad de Greenville
Shall Article XI, Section 119 of the Greenville City Charter (relating to the sale of City-owned utilities) be amended to comply with the Texas Government Code and other applicable state laws to provide that any such sale must be approved by the voters at an election? ¿Deberá enmendarse el ArtÃculo XI, Sección 119 de la Carta Orgánica de la Ciudad de Greenville (relativo a la venta servicios públicos propiedad de la Ciudad) para cumplir con el Cóndigo de Gobierno de Texas y demás leyes estatales aplicables, estableciendo que toda venta de ese tipo debe ser aprobada por los votantes en una elección?
